Description
The Royer R-122 is the world’s first powered, active ribbon microphone, giving it greater output than standard passive ribbons. It’s impedance has been optimised to work well with a variety of preamps without having to add a great deal of gain and a high input impedance. The R-122 is as sensitive as a condenser microphone and contains a fully balanced, discrete head amplifier system with a unique torodial transformer and ultra-low noise FETs. This results in a max sound pressure level of 135 dB SPL and a sensitivity of 37 dB, without introducing additional self- noise. The active electronics in the R-122 place a perfect load on the ribbon element at so that it provides 100 per cent of its sonic purity at all times. Its low-impedance output means that it can be used with long cable runs with only minimal signal loss. The R-122’s offset ribbon transducer assembly positions the ribbon element towards the front of the microphone body, which allows for higher SPL handling. • Active ribbon technology • Figure-8 ...
