The Samlex ACR-160 is a battery charge isolator for 12 and 24 Volt DC systems. In RV, marine, and some other vehicles, the starter battery and auxiliary batteries are independent of each other. When the vehicle is parked or stationary for long periods of time, the starter battery is at risk of losing its charge. The ACR-160 allows you to connect your auxiliary batteries to your starting battery. This allows you to charge your starting battery with your auxiliary battery charger. This can be an independent battery charger or a charger that's built in to an inverter. If you start to drain the batteries down, the ACR-160 will disconnect the starting battery to prevent it from discharging. That way you will never have to worry about losing the charge on your starting battery. It also has a start assist function that parallels the auxiliary and starting battery when starting an engine, which increases the total cranking amps of your starting system.
