SeeedStudio Grove IR Distance Interrupter v1.2

The Grove IR Distance Interrupter v1.2 is used to detect any object blocking the path of light. The module consists of a GaAs infared light emitting diode and a silicon planar phototransistor. The light emitted by the IR LED gets reflected by any object placed in front of the sensor and this reflection is detected by the photosensor (phototransistor).
