Volume8 can control up to 8 channels (system Surround). The device is designed with circuitry active, to get around the inevitable drawbacks of passive circuitry leading to impedance variation e hence linearity degradation in the frequency response. The Volume8 is aimed at users of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Most D / A converters and cards audio do not have an analogue level control e this entails the need to vary the signal levels to the converter outputs. The result is a reduction of the bit rate in the control signal, which can lead to proportional loss of audio quality. A further field of very interesting application is the construction by part of the audiophile of a high quality chain for the 5.1 surround playback, where Volume8 is located between machine (SACD, DVD-A, etc) and the power amplifier o simply to the active speaker system.
