Hosta's are not grown for their flowers but for their foliage, which are prettier than the flowers. They come in a spectrum of blues, golds, greens, yellows and whites as well as variegated, some speckled and others striped. They thrive in the shade, even though they can withstand some sun, are long-lived and low-maintenance. Many Hosta varieties have seasonal color or can change color depending on growing conditions. While there are over 3,000 cultivars to choose from, we offer some of the more extra-ordinary each unique in color, texture and form. The leaves of Hosta Whirlwind are variegated of which color changes through the growing season as its lime green white leaves form wide dark green margins which darken later in the summer. Won the Award of Garden Merit and the Best Variegated Hosta in a Garden Award from the American Hosta Society in 1992. Good choice for just about any garden use and garden style.
