HP Insight Control for Linux 6.0 User Guide

6.3.3.2 Copying SLES version 9 into the repository
IMPORTANT: SLES Version 9 supports network installations from web servers running only
on port 80, and the default port used by Insight Control for Linux for network installations is
Port 60000.
Configuring your repository web server to use port 80 will cause a port collision with the Apache
web server that came with your OS because the Apache server was pre-configured to also listen
on port 80.
To switch the repository web server to run on port 80, follow this procedure:
1. Use a text editor to edit the HTTPD configuration file and comment out the following line:
Listen 80
The HTTPD configuration file location and name depends on the OS installed on the CMS:
If the CMS is installed with RHEL, edit the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file.
If the CMS is installed with SLES, edit the /etc/apache2/listen.conf file.
2. Restart the Apache service if you have already run OptionsIC-LinuxConfigure
Management Services to start services. If services have not been started yet, skip this step.
If the CMS is installed with RHEL, enter:
# /etc/init.d/httpd restart
If the CMS is installed with SLES, enter:
# /etc/init.d/apache2 startssl
3. Use a text editor to edit the /opt/mx/icle/icle.properties file, and set the
REPOSITORY_HTTP_PORT value to 80.
4. Stop and restart HP SIM:
# /opt/mx/bin/mxstop
# /opt/mx/bin/mxstart
NOTE: Virtual media is not supported for managed systems running SLES version 9.
SLES Version 9 is a combination of the original CORE9 installation media, the SLES Version 9
product media, and any service pack media. The installation source is the result of overriding
rather than overlaying packages so that the packages in the latest media are installed first, which
prevents earlier packages from taking their place.
To override the kernel and the initrd file used for installations, new versions of these files are
provided on the latest or newest media. Symbolic links steer you and the installation process so
that the latest installer components are chosen when preparing for an installation.
Each SLES Version 9 service pack contains all the latest fixes for the original product packages,
and therefore supersedes earlier service packs, which can then be removed from the installation
source. By retaining the media contents in separate directories, it is easy to upgrade an installation
source by replacing them.
SLES Version 9 media typically arrives on a set of six CDs or as a set of six ISO images. It is very
uncommon to receive original SLES Version 9 installation media on DVDs. Therefore, the
instructions in this section describe the setup procedure using the original six pieces of media.
