Implementing a Virtual Server Environment: Getting Started

19
Implement the Pilot Project
Now that you have determined which virtualization technologies to use for your pilot project, you
need to set up and test the new environment. As stated earlier, if your pilot project involves an
application from an ISV, be sure to let the ISV know your intentions. They might already have done
something similar and therefore might have some useful advice to help you.
One word of caution: If you are changing hardware platforms, operating system versions, or
application versions, test the transition or upgrade before you begin to install and test the
virtualization technologies. Changing too many variables at the same time is never a good idea.
Repeat the Process
Once you have successfully implemented your pilot project, you can add new functionality to it if you
need to, or you can start another pilot project. HP designed all of the virtualization technologies to
be integrated and to work well together.
