HP Serviceguard Toolkit for NFS on Linux User Guide Version A.12.00.00

Coexistence of NFS toolkit packages configured to use NFSv3 and NFSv4
protocols on the same node
Figure 3 Coexistence of NFS package configured to use NFSv3 and NFSv4 protocols on the same
node
Figure 3 (page 8) illustrates a co-existence scenario where NFS toolkit packages are configured
to use NFSv3 and NFSv4 protocols on the same node.
In this scenario, Node_A is the primary node for NFS server package Pkg1_v3, which is configured
to use NFSv3 protocol and Pkg2_v4, which is configured on Node_B to use NFSv4 protocol on
the same node. When Node_A fails, Node_B adopts both Pkg1_v3 and Pkg2_v4, which are
configured to use two different versions of NFS protocol. File systems exported in NFSv3 style are
exported in v3 style by the adoptive node after the failover. Similarly, file systems exported in
NFSv4 style are exported in v4 style by the adoptive node after failover provided, both the nodes
have access to the shared disks used by Pkg1_v3 and Pkg2_v4.
NOTE: HP recommends that two NFS toolkit packages should not coexist in a single node, if
lock migration is enabled for any one of the packages.
