Serviceguard for Linux Oracle Toolkit Version A.03.01 Release Notes, June 2007

NOTE: At the time of publication, Oracle toolkit version A.03.01 supports Serviceguard
version A.11.16 and later.
What’s in this Version
The Serviceguard Oracle Toolkit for Linux provides high availability for an Oracle
database server application. The A.03.01 version of Serviceguard for Linux Oracle
Toolkit contains the following:
• Support for Listener Monitoring
• Support for Oracle 9i, and 10g R1 and R2
• Support for all servers that are supported by Serviceguard for Linux. (Refer to
Table 1-1 for the supported Serviceguard version and Linux Distribution).
• Enhancement to facilitate quicker database service registration with the listener
by starting listener before database.
• Fix to support password protected listener monitoring.
• Fix to configure PFILE value in haoracle.conf.
One shell script (the Oracle 9i and 10g DB toolkit configuration file) is provided as a
template, which can be customized for your specific needs. After the shell scripts are
installed they are located in the following location:
RedHat Distributions: /usr/local/cmcluster/oracletoolkit [LINEBREAK]SLES Distributions:
/opt/cmcluster/oracletoolkit
NOTE: At the time of publication, only Oracle 10g R2 is supported on SLES10 and
RH5.
Enhancements to the Serviceguard for Linux Oracle Toolkit
Enhancement to the Serviceguard for Linux Oracle Toolkit for version A.03.01 include:
• Facilitate quicker database service registration with the listener by starting listener
before database.
Listener Monitoring
Listener monitoring is configured as a separate service, and the listener is restarted as
a consequence of service restart. If the restart count is exceeded, the Oracle package
will fail over. Each time the listener is restarted, a message is logged in the package log
file.
To use the monitor listener, a service needs to be added in the Package Configuration
File and Package Control Script as follows:
