Backing up and restoring HP Systems Insight Manager 6.3 database in a Windows Environment

11
2. Reinstall Systems Insight Manager. This would create a new blank database with a new name, let
us call this SIMDB2as shown in figure 8.
Figure 8: SIMDB2
for instructions refer to the HP Systems Insight Manager 6.3 Installation and Configuration Guide
for Microsoft Windows, available at the following URL:
http://h18013.www1.hp.com/cpq-
products/servers/management/hpsim/infolibrary.html. If not performing a reinstallation of Systems
Insight Manager, then proceed to step 6.
Note:
You must reinstall Systems Insight Manager with the same user
account used previously. If a local account was used, the host
name must also remain the same. For more information about
renaming the host name, see:
http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-
helpfiles/hpsim_52_migratingNewSystem.pdf
.
Perform the remaining steps after the backup or restore is complete.
3. Reinstall the WMI mapper, OpenSSH (and previous keys used), and SMH components if needed.
4. Reinstall any backup up custom files (TDEFs, MIBs, login prompt, and other actions) under the HP
SIM directory tree, and any custom support packs used by VCRM.
Note:
The HP SIM installation procedure includes loading VCRM on a Windows
CMS.
5. Reinstall any plug-in utilities (and associated files and databases) used with Systems Insight
Manager. You can reinstall using Systems Insight Manager integrated installer, the management
DVD, or stand alone installer.
6. Stop the HP Systems Insight Manager service in Windows services as this service would “hold” a
live connection with the database and restoration will not happen unless this service is stopped,
as shown in Figure 9.
