tzupdater 1.0.3f corrects the following known issue in previous versions:
- tzupdater fails to update the time zone data files when run
on JDK 5.0.00 FCS version. The tool silently returns without
updating the time zone data, due to a defect that is specific to
the 5.0.00 JDK. JDK versions 5.0.01 and later are handled correctly.
tzupdater 1.0.2c corrects the following known issue in previous versions:
- The tzupdater 1.0.2a tool required a significant number of file handles
to be open during processing of the time zone data. This causes
"Too many open files (errno:24)" errors if the kernel tunable
maxfiles_lim is set to less than 4096. tzupdater 1.0.2c fixes this problem,
and setting the maxfiles_lim kernel tunable to be greater than 2048
is no longer required.
tzupdater 1.0.2a corrects the following known issues in previous versions:
- With previous tzupdater versions, the patched jre/lib/zi directory
inherited the permissions of the process running the update.
tzupdater 1.0.2a maintains original permission settings for
jre/lib/zi and all jre/lib/zi subdirectories and files.
tzupdater 1.0.2a will reset directory and file permissions to those
found in the original (old) zi directory. Any new files or
directories will inherit permissions from one of the original zi
subdirectories.
Note that the sticky bit WILL NOT be added to any new zi files
or directories even if it was on the original file/dir.
Note: If you attempt to run tzupdater_1.0.2a on a JRE that has previously
been patched with tzupdater_1.0.1a, then you will need to ensure
the permissions on the zi directory, and all of its subdirectories and
files, are set to the desired values. The permissions from the existing
zi directory are used for any newly created/patched zi directory.
Run tzupdater_1.0.2a with the '-f' or '--force' option to
force the update (by default tzupdater will not update a JRE
containing the same tzdata versions level as the tool).
Alternatively, prior to running tzupdater_1.0.2a, the previous tzupdater
patch can be backed out by following the steps in Removing tzupdater tool changes (page 14).
- Some new HP-UX system time zone IDs (defined in /usr/lib/tztab)
used for setting the TZ environment variable were not recognized
