4-5-3-1 Notes when migrating the database
The following are notes for the databases, types, versions, and user information of the XP
Command View AE Suite on the migration source and migration destination servers.
Notes for databases, types, and versions of the XP Command View AE Suite products:
The database of an XP Command View AE Suite product that is not installed on the migration
destination server cannot be migrated. Install all necessary XP Command View AE Suite
products on the migration destination server.
If a storage subsystem that is not supported on the migration destination server is registered in
the database of Device Manager installed on the migration source server, before migration,
delete the storage subsystem that is not supported on the migration destination server.
If any of the versions of the XP Command View AE Suite installed on the migration destination
server is older than the ones on the migration source server, the database cannot be migrated.
On the migration destination server, install the XP Command View AE Suite products whose
versions are the same as or higher than the ones on the migration source server.
The database of XP Replication Monitor version 1.1 cannot be migrated. If you need to migrate
the database of XP Replication Monitor version 1.1, upgrade XP Replication Monitor to version
5.0 or later on both the migration source and destination servers beforehand.
Notes for user information:
If there is user information on the migration destination server, this user information will be
replaced with the user information from the migration source server. Therefore, do not perform
a migration to the machine on which user information for the XP Command View AE Suite
already exists.
If the databases of several XP Command View AE Suite products installed on a management
server are migrated in multiple operations, the user information is replaced with new
information at each operation, and eventually only the user information for the products
migrated during the last operation will remain. When you perform migration for multiple
products, be sure to migrate the databases in one operation so that user information for every
products can be migrated.
You cannot perform migration to integrate the XP Command View AE Suite that was running
on multiple management servers on to one management server because user information will
be overwritten with each successive migration.
4-5-3-2 Procedure for migrating databases
To migrate databases:
1. Install, on the migration destination server, the XP Command View AE Suite products whose
databases will be migrated.
2. Export the databases at the migration source server by using the hcmdsdbtrans command.
3. Transfer the archive file from the migration source server to the migration destination server.
4. Import the database at the migration destination server by using the hcmdsdbtrans command.
The following subsections describe the details of each procedure. To perform migration between
heterogeneous platforms, also see section
3-7-3 .
4-5-3-3 Installing the XP Command View AE Suite on the migration
destination server
Install, on the migration destination server, the XP Command View AE Suite products whose
databases will be migrated. The version of each XP Command View AE Suite product installed on
the migration destination server must be the same as or higher than the one on the migration source
server.
