5 Event Messages
This section describes the content and meaning of all the event messages that
DSM/SCM generates. Event messages are composed of tokens in Subsystem
Programmatic Interface (SPI) buffers.
A management application can obtain these event messages by opening an Event
Management Service (EMS) distributor process and requesting the messages. The
application can also specify that a filter be applied to select certain event messages.
For general information on how an application obtains event messages from a
subsystem, see the EMS Manual.
In this section, all tokens and their values are represented in Data Definition Language
(DDL). For a quick explanation of DDL, see the SPI Programming Manual.
For information on how to obtain details on the OSS error messages listed in this
section, see the Guardian Procedure Errors and Messages Manual.
DSM/SCM Components That Report Events
DSM/SCM components report informational, warning, and error events to EMS in
response to DSM/SCM activities. The DSM/SCM components that report events are:
Other Subsystem Errors Reported as
DSM/SCM Events
To perform user requests, DSM/SCM uses certain subsystems that are classified as
DSM/SCM utilities. Errors generated by these subsystems while processing a
DSM/SCM request are included within DSM/SCM events as embedded errors and are
also reported to EMS. Embedded errors include file-system errors, structured query
language (SQL) errors, and Software Identification (SWID) errors. When appropriate,
the message text of these errors is included in the event message.
