Migration Considerations

Telserv
TCP/IPv6 can be restarted automatically by the persistence manager. See Persistence
Manager on page 3-7.
Telserv
If Telserv is running as a fault-tolerant pair in NonStop TCP/IPv6 environments, all
configured Telserv static service information and static window information is captured
and retained by the new Telserv primary process when the primary Telserv dies.
However, in NonStop TCP/IPv6 with round-robin enabled, the new TCP6MON in the
reloaded processor runs an automatic script to re-launch the Telserv process but the
newly created Telserv process does not have knowledge of the previous configured
static service and static window. If you want to use static windows and servers in
Telserv in the NonStop TCP/IPv6 environment with round-robin enabled, modify the
Telserv startup script so it reconfigures the Telserv-related static service and static
window.
In addition, use a command file to start Telserv rather than configuring Telserv as a
persistent process. Again, add commands for adding the static server and static
window to the command file.
The RESILIENT ON attribute for Telserv allows your session to move to a different
terminal. This feature does not work if round-robin filtering is enabled. (See Round-
Robin Filtering on page 3-9.)
If you are migrating from a NonStop K-series system to a NonStop S-series system
and you use multiple Telserv processes for each controller using port 23, configure
NonStop TCP/IPv6 to have round-robin enabled. The round-robin feature of NonStop
TCP/IPv6 allows multiple processes to share a port; without round-robin enabled, you
cannot run multiple processes on a single port. For information about enabling the
round-robin feature of NonStop TCP/IPv6, see the TCP/IPv6 Configuration and
Management Manual.
Trace
Because multiple TCP6MONs can run in multiple processors, you must use trace on
multiple processors to analyze some problems.
Tips for Migrating from NonStop TCP/IP to NonStop TCP/IPv6
You can run NonStop TCP/IPv6 in the Kseg2 memory space. See the QIO
Configuration and Management Manual for more information.
You must update entries in the PROTOCOL configuration file for NonStop
TCP/IPv6 to include the ipv6 and icmpv6 entries from the SMPLPROT file that is
Note. When you configure your NonStop TCP/IPv6 environment with round-robin enabled,
you must launch the NonStop application-process pairs in alternate processor pairs. For more
information about round-robin configuration considerations, see the TCP/IPv6 Configuration
and Management Manual.
