Figure 5 Flow of operations for importing host information (ImportHosts command)
The following describes the files that the ImportHosts command uses or generates.
Input files
Host information file (CSV file)
The host information file contains host information in CSV format.
If you are using spreadsheet software to manage hosts, you can use the spreadsheet software file
to create the host information file. You can also create the host information file from a CSV file
exported as a report from the Device Manager GUI.
Mapping definition file
The mapping definition file contains properties that map between the contents of the host inform-
ation file and the actual information to be imported.
A sample mapping definition file is provided. This file can be used to create a new mapping
definition file.
The mapping definition file defines the types of host information to be imported from the host information
file. Therefore, the host information file can contain information that you do not want to import. The
mapping definition file can also be used to determine the order of items (columns).
Output files
The command sends its execution results to the standard output. The command also outputs the following
files, depending on the executed functionality:
Check results file (output if the data format check option is specified)
Error information file (output if check or import errors occur or check or import warnings are issued)
