Linux systems installation
102
Grant all users read and execution permissions for the directory to be specified as the
installation directory and all the directories above that directory. Note that, in Linux, if you
specify an existing directory as the installation directory, the permissions of the installation
directory is set to 775. If you do not want the permissions of the existing directory to be
changed to 775, specify another directory as the installation directory.
Verify that symbolic links that have the following names have not been created. If they have
been created, installation might fail. (The following names are examples, and apply when the
Device Manager server and Common Component are installed in the default directories.)
/opt
/var/opt
/var/tmp
The names of the directories in /opt/CVXPAE (including /opt/CVXPAE)
The names of the directories in /var/opt/CVXPAE (including /var/opt/CVXPAE)
The names of the Device Manager server database storage destination directory and its
subordinate directories
Default destination directory: /opt/CVXPAE/database
The names of the Common Component database storage directory and its subordinate
directories
Default destination directory: /var/opt/CVXPAE/Base/database
In Linux, firewall exceptions must be registered manually before installation. For details on how
to do this, see section
2-4 .
When you install the Device Manager server, specify the host name or IP address of the server
machine. When you specify the host name, make sure that the host name satisfies the
following conditions:
Number of characters: 32 bytes or less
Available characters: A-Z a-z 0-9 -
You cannot use a hyphen (-) at the beginning or end of the host name.
When you install the Device Manager server in a cluster environment, specify a logical host
name that satisfies the above conditions.
If multiple NICs are installed on the machine, during installation you will need to specify the IP
address that corresponds to one of those NICs. If multiple NICs are connected to different
networks, use the IP address of the NIC that belongs to the network to which web client is
connected.
The IP address specified during installation is also used when you specify the setting of
server.http.host property after installation is complete. For details about how to set this
property, see subsection
8-2-1 .
Write localhost and the host name of the server machine into the /etc/hosts file in the
order shown:
Host name of the server machine (on the above line of localhost)
localhost
To enable the changes made to the /etc/hosts file, restart the Device Manager services.
For the commands used by the Device Manager server to work correctly, the directories for OS
basic commands must be specified as the first paths in the PATH environment variable. If an
error occurs because an OS basic command was not found or because a utility command has
the same name as an OS basic command, edit the PATH environment variable so that the
directories for OS basic commands are specified as the first paths in the PATH environment
variable.
