NOTE: HP recommends that after installing Linux, you enable ssh, and use it for
remote login (instead of rlogin, remsh, or telnet). Use the related command scp
(instead of rcp) for remote copy. ssh and scp encrypt passwords before transmitting
them, whereas rlogin, rcp, etc., do not.
After Linux is correctly configured, install HP Serviceguard using rpm commands:
install Serviceguard, and then Serviceguard Manager and other ancillary products if
you choose to do so. Proceed as follows.
NOTE: The rpm command examples in this section assume that you are doing a fresh
install (rpm -ihv). If you are updating existing software, use rpm -Uhv instead.
Red Hat Installation
Pre-Install Steps
You must uninstall authd. Do the following:
rpm -e authd
Installation
1. On the Serviceguard for Linux CD, change to the appropriate directory
cd <linux_version>/Serviceguard/<architecture>
For example,
cd RedHat5/Serviceguard/IA64
2. Install the sg_pidentd rpm; for example, on an HP Integrity system:
rpm -ihv sg-pidentd-3.0.19-2.ia64.rpm
3. Install the autopass rpm:
rpm -ihv SGLic-6.0-SG11.19.rhel5.ia64.rpm
4. Install the sgcmom and serviceguard rpms in order; for example, on an HP
Integrity system:
1. rpm -ihv sgcmom-B.06.00.00-0.rhel5.ia64.rpm
2. rpm -ihv serviceguard-A.11.19.00-0.rhel5.ia64.rpm
5. Use the following commands to set up sg-pidentd
1. /sbin/chkconfig --level 35 identd on
2. /etc/init.d/identd start
