Enhancements to the Serviceguard for Linux
Oracle Toolkit
Enhancements to the Serviceguard for Linux Oracle Toolkit for version
A.02.00 include:
Support for Oracle 10g database application.
Improved Documentation.
Performance Enhancement occurs at package start-up by checking
for the availability of the DB instance, and returning a
success/failure code. If the instance cannot be successfully accessed,
a failure will be returned to Serviceguard’s package manager to halt
any additional attempts to bring up the package.
Assurance that all Oracle Toolkit scripts are owned and executed by
“root”.
Fixes for defects reported on the HP-UX version of the Oracle Toolkit
Database Administrator User. The ORACLE_ADMIN parameter
allows the user name of the Oracle database administrator to be used
for starting and stopping of the database.
Database Maintenance
Database Maintenance
The MAINTENANCE_FLAG parameter allows maintenance mode to be
enabled or disabled when an Oracle package is running. If maintenance
mode is enabled, Oracle database maintenance can be performed without
bringing down the Oracle package. To perform database maintenance,
you do not have to halt the package and manually activate the volume
groups.
If the flag is set to “no” it is not possible to enable maintenance mode. If
the flag is set to “yes” it is possible to enable maintenance mode by
creating the file “oracle.debug” in the package directory where the toolkit
scripts are located.
