o Components configured include: HP-UX Security Containment (HP-UX compartments),
Process Resource Management (PRM), Compartment Login, Role-Based Access
Control (RBAC), Network Interface and IP Address Management, IPFilter host firewall,
and Internet Protocol Security (IPSec).
Lifecycle management
o A configuration tool guides the selection of features and options for an SRP. Use this
tool to add, update, or delete SRPs. You can also use the tool to assign the following
items to an SRP:
users/groups
management roles
IP addresses file system, networking, and IPC isolation policies
o Define startup and shutdown activities per SRP.
o Update an SRP by adding or removing features and changing configuration
properties.
Application support
o Templates are provided to make it easy to get started. In addition to a base template
to manage the SRP and a customization template to change the SRP security
properties, additional templates are provided to enable key applications such as
Oracle database, Apache web server, and HP-UX Secure Shell.
o SRP’s configuration can be easily customized and tuned to fit the target application
and environment.
Import and export an SRP
o Copy an SRP from one system to another.
o Pre-configure an SRP on multiple-systems for Serviceguard to enable fast auto-restart
upon failure.
o Support the workload balancing of multiple SRPs across systems.
High availability through Serviceguard support, including a reference implementation for
using an SRP as a Serviceguard package.
Status reporting
o Provides details on the various SRPs deployed on a system, including configuration
and enablement status.
Included with HP-UX 11i v3
o The software license for HP-UX SRP (including PRM) is included with all HP-UX 11i v3
Operating Environments.
1.3 New HP-UX SRP Features
HP-UX SRP A.02.02 offers the following new features:
SRP Manager integrated in the System Management Homepage (SMH) provides a graphical
user interface (GUI) to configure and manage HP-UX SRPs by supporting the following tasks:
o Monitor SRP status
o Create a new SRP
o Start or stop an SRP
o Export or import an SRP
o Modify an SRP
o Delete an SRP
The srp_ps command reports process status for a compartment in an SRP environment
allowing the system administrator to track processes on a per SRP basis. The srp_ps
command reports status for an SRP in a similar manner as the ps(1) command.
Concurrent execution of srp commands such as start, stop, list, and status.
Improved compatibility check of target system on import operations.
