Asynchronous Terminals and Printer Processes Programming Manual

INTRODUCTION
6100 CSS Architecture
The LIU is available in two versions, LIU1 and LIU4:
• The LIU1 is a general-purpose device that runs all protocols.
It consists of a CLIP1 and a LIM1 and supports one communica-
tion line. The LIU1 can be used with the CIU-based |
implementations, the 6105 CC, and the 3605 CC. However, it is |
available only with the RS-232C electrical interface. |
• The LIU4 is a special-purpose device that is used for
asynchronous communication. It consists of a CLIP4 and a LIM4
and supports four communication lines. The LIU4 can be used |
with the CIU-based implementations, the 6106 ACC, and the |
3606 ACC. It is available with the RS-232C and current loop |
electrical interfaces. In the CIU-based implementations, all |
four lines of each LIU4 must be either RS-232C or current |
loop. For the 6106 ACC and the 3606 ACC, each line can be |
individually configured for RS-232C or current loop. However, |
within a CLIP4, the four subdevices must be all terminals or |
all printers. If you configure printers and terminals on the |
same CLIP4, the line will not function properly. |
Software
The key pieces of software in the 6100 CSS are the I/O processes
and the protocol modules. The I/O process resides in the Tandem
CPU. The only 6100 CSS I/O process described in this manual is
ATP6100. The protocol module is downloaded into the CLIP. The
two modules associated with ATP6100 are CSSASYNC for terminals
and CSSPRINT for printers. These modules can be used with either
the LIU1 or the LIU4.
THE 3681 IMPLEMENTATION
The 3681 Multifunction Controller is a single-board implementa- |
tion for CLX support. The 3681 MFC has five ports; only two |
ports are asynchronous. Data can be transmitted over the lines |
attached to these two ports using only asynchronous protocol. |
This controller uses both the RS-232C and current loop interfaces |
to transmit and receive electrical signals for these two ports. |
Refer to the
NonStop CLX System Management Manual
for further |
information on these two ports and the other ports on the |
controller. |
|
The software for the 3681 implementation is the ATP6100 I/O |
process and the CSSASYNC and CSSPRINT protocol modules. The |
ATP6100 process resides in the Tandem CPU. The protocol modules |
are downloaded to the 3681 MFC during the coldload process. |
