Terminal Commands
Terminal Commands
The user enters terminal commands in response to the X3PAD prompt or in command
input files. X3PAD must be in the command state to accept terminal commands.
Table 4-7 provides a summary of terminal commands. Detailed command descriptions
follow this table.
BREAK Command
The BREAK command is functionally identical to pressing the BREAK key while in the
data transfer state. The result depends upon BREAK parameters set with the SET
command.
Table 4-7. Terminal Command Summary
Command Purpose
BREAK Generate interrupt packet.
CALL Establish the call, and enter the data transfer state.
CLEAR Clear the current call.
ENV Display the status of LOG, OUT, or RECEIVE file; or the default volume and
subvolume.
EXIT Clear the current call, and stop program execution.
FC EDIT and re-execute the previous command.
HELP Display a command and a description of what it is used for.
LOG Write terminal output to a file or terminate writing to a file.
OBEY Read terminal commands from a file.
OUT Write terminal output to a file.
RECEIVE Write data received from network to a file or terminate writing to file.
RESUME Enter data transfer state.
SEND Send contents of a file over a network. If a file is not specified, enter the data
transfer state.
SET Set X3PAD operational parameters.
SHOW Display X3PAD operational parameters.
STATUS Display status of current call.
SYSTEM Set the system default. If a system is not specified, default to the local
system.
VOLUME Set the volume and/or subvolume default. If nothing is specified, the default
is the TACL default volume and subvolume.
