Tuning the Matrix Operating Environment for large scale production
environments
In the Matrix OE environment, if you presently have or anticipate more than 1000 managed nodes,
changing the default configuration values for some software components can improve the
performance of those components. Managed nodes include both physical and virtual resources.
Increasing JVM heap size
To change the JVM heap size:
1. Edit the following files to change the indicated parameter settings.
Virtual machine management

NOTE: When modifying the LSA service configuration file wrapper.java.additional
settings by creating a wrapper.additional.<n> entry, the <n> value must be unique.
Take note of the lines that are in use and be sure to leave them intact. Lines that are commented
out (#) are available for use, but it’s possible that by un-commenting a
wrapper.java.additional.<n> line you might activate an already existing setting of
the same name. Preserve the sequential numbering of the wrapper.java.additional
statements to avoid conflicts. HP strongly recommends that a backup is created of all files
prior to modification.
2. Restart affected services on the CMS. Editing the above files affects several running services
on the CMS. Restart the following services on the CMS:
• HP Insight Control virtual machine management
• HP Logical Server Automation
• HP Matrix infrastructure orchestration
You may wait to restart this service if you intend to modify the ESX memory
oversubscription.
