6. As needed, look up the list of possible disk names to exclude for VM hosts by browsing to the
system status page for the VM host in question and then click Disk Partitions to expand the
listing. An example of this is shown in the following screenshot.
7. The property can be present only once in the file, so use a semicolon to separate drive names
when specifying multiple drives, such as when excluding storage for both Hyper-V and VMware
hosts. The following example excludes system drives of Hyper-V and VMware in the most
common deployment configurations:
volume.exclusion.list =C:;/vmfs/volumes/Storage*
8. Save the file.
9. Restart the Matrix infrastructure orchestration service.
Creating ESX virtual machine templates
Matrix infrastructure orchestration uses VMware templates as a deployment source for ESX. For
ESX VMs, create VMware templates in vCenter.
For each Matrix OE service template, you will need to either create or select an existing VMware
template. HP recommends you first deploy or convert the template to a VM to validate it prior to
using it in a Matrix OE service template.
A valid ESX template must contain running VMware Tools. Besides the required boot disk, the
template may optionally include one or more data disks.
