LO processes and LO PDU stores are described in the following subsections.
Local Operations (LO) Process. The local operations (LO) process is a single,
restartable process that provides the following functions:
Manages associations from local client applications
Creates PDUs in a format suitable for use by the MS group during SUBMIT
operations
Processes the Remote Operations Service Element (ROSE) part of the data sent to
it by the client application
Each LO group has one LO process. You can configure this process to have a maximum
of 10 to 30 associations. After it is configured, this number remains set until you change
it by reconfiguring the OSI/MHS subsystem.
Additionally, each LO group can be accessed by one or more client applications. In
turn, any one of these client applications can have up to 20 open associations with one or
more LO groups.
LO PDU Store. Each LO group has one protocol data unit (PDU) store. The PDU
store consists of a data file and a log file. The LO group uses these files for encoding
and decoding operations as well as placement of incoming PDUs. The complete PDU
entering the LO group is placed into the LO PDU store before being sent to the MR or
MS PDU store.
You name the data and log files for each LO group when you run the OSI/MHS
installation procedure. For information on the installation procedure, see the OSI/MHS
Configuration and Management Manual.
