2. Copy the example boot_stanza script to the current directory.
# cp ../examples/Debian5/boot_stanza .
3. Edit your copy of boot_stanza using the text editor of your choice and make any necessary
modifications.
4. Extend executable permission to the boot_stanza file.
# chmod +x boot_stanza
5. Save the file and exit the text editor.
Step 13: Create an agentless installation association configuration script
Debian GNU/Linux is not supported by the ProLiant Service Pack (PSP). Thus, it requires an agentless
installation association configuration script. For more information on this topic, see the white paper
titled Setting up Managed Systems in ICE-Linux without the ProLiant Service Pack. Insight Control for
Linux provides an example
agentless installation association configuration script named db5-
agentless.
Follow this procedure to create a copy of the example agentless installation association configuration
script:
1. Change directory to the space for the Debian OS in the Repository:
# cd /opt/repository/instconfig/custom/Debian5-i386
2. Copy the example file db5-agentless to the current directory.
# cp ../examples/Debian5/db5-agentless .
Step 14: Install Debian5-i386 on a target system
You can now install the Debian5-i386 operating system on a target managed system. The section
titled “Generic procedure for installing an OS to one or more managed systems” in the HP Insight
Control for Linux User Guide provides the instructions for installing an operating system on a target
system. This section supplements the procedure in that section.
Before you begin, you need the following information:
The (numeric) IP address of the Ethernet port of the HP SIM server.
Note: Sometimes the system does not obtain a valid DHCP address the first time it is booted. In
this case, reboot it to obtain a valid DHCP address.
The MAC address of the target managed system.
You can obtain the MAC address for the NIC selected for PXE boot in the BIOS screen through the
iLO console, or you can get a list of possible MAC addresses from the main iLO web page.
Follow the procedure to deploy an operating system in the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide,
but specify Debian5-i386 when you are prompted to select the operating system.
Note: The Task Results window may report completion although the installation might not yet be
complete. Monitor the console to determine when the installation has been completed.
