HP Serviceguard Toolkit for SAP Sybase ASE and SAP Sybase Replication Server for Linux User Guide Version A.12.00.00

4 Creating the Sybase toolkit package
You can create a Serviceguard toolkit package to manage the Sybase server instances. After
installing the Sybase toolkit, you can use the toolkit to:
Create Sybase ASE package
Create Sybase RS package
Create DRA package
Creating a Serviceguard toolkit package
To create a Serviceguard toolkit package:
1. Create a directory to hold all the package related files.
2. Run the cd command to change to the package directory.
3. Create the package configuration template using the cmmakepkg command.
The command creates a template for configuration file with all the required attributes.
4. Edit the package configuration file to specify the required values for the attributes.
5. Run the cmcheckconf command to verify whether the package configuration is correct.
6. If the cmcheckconf command does not report any errors, then run the cmapplyconf
command to add the package to the Serviceguard environment.
7. Run the cmviewcl command to verify the applied package.
8. Run the cmmodpkg command to enable the package switching.
This enables the package to failover to the adaptive node after it fails on the primary node.
For additional information about creating and managing a Serviceguard toolkit package, see the
latest version of Managing HP Serviceguard on Linux manual at http://www.hp.com/go/
linux-serviceguard-docs.
NOTE: By default, the package switching is disabled.
Prerequisites to create a Sybase toolkit package
This section discusses the prerequisites and the steps to create a package.
Table 4 Prerequisites for creating Serviceguard package for Sybase ASE and Sybase RS
Sybase RS (Replication Server Environment)Sybase ASE (Non-Replication Server Environment)
Install and configure Sybase ASE on all the package
nodes of the Serviceguard cluster.
Install and configure Sybase ASE on all the package
nodes of the Serviceguard cluster.
Ensure that the Sybase RS is installed on all the package
nodes.
Test the setup to ensure Sybase ASE starts up as desired,
on all the package nodes.
Test the setup to ensure Sybase RS starts up as desired,
on all the package nodes.
Creating ASE package (non-Replication Server environment)
Assumption: The Serviceguard cluster is configured and Sybase ASE is installed and configured
on the required Serviceguard cluster nodes.
To create Sybase ASE package, run the cmmakepkg -m tkit/sybase/ase ase1_pkg.ascii
command to create a package configuration file (ase1_pkg.ascii).
To create a Serviceguard package and to manage Sybase ASE instance, edit the package
configuration template file and specify all the required attribute values.
