C-2 Configuring the Network for TCP/IP
Configuring the
Network for TCP/IP
In order to use the print servers built-in FTP server to transfer
files, or send print jobs to the server via TCP/IP, your office net-
work operating system and workstation operating systems must
support the TCP/IP network protocol. The latest versions of the
Macintosh OS and Microsoft Windows both support TCP/IP, as
does the Unix operating system.
A World Wide Web browser or FTP client software is required to
transfer files via FTP.
See your network administrator to install and configure your
network software, hardware, and cabling. For further informa-
tion about FTP, refer to the following articles from ColorSpan
Technical Support:

ColorMark Servers

FTP to ColorMark Servers

Alternatively, it is possible to connect a standalone workstation
directly to the print server, without connecting either device to
any other device over a network. In this case, use IP addresses
that are within one of the range of addresses set aside for private
networks:
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
