Chapter 1 - Design Studio Overview
This document introduces the concepts, terminology, and capabilities of the
Mercator Design Studio. The Design Studio provides the means for developing
event-driven application-to-application (A2A) integration, business-to-business
(B2B) integration, and consumer-to-business (C2B) application integration.
The Design Studio is the design component of the Integration Broker used to
model and test your e-business solutions. Use the Design Studio to:
Define your data.
Create maps for your data.
Manage the systems of maps that you create.
Develop and test maps and systems in the Microsoft Windows environment.
The Design Studio is installed on and operates on Windows platforms. The client
components of the Design Studio include the Integration Flow Designer, Type
Designer, Map Designer, and Database Interface Designer. The graphical
interfaces and functionality of these designers are introduced.
This is a companion document to the Design Studio Tutorial, which is available in
the Mercator Online Library. The Design Studio Tutorial introduces the basic
concepts of using the Design Studio client components to define data content,
define data transformation, and perform business process modeling. The Design
Studio Tutorial is a practical, hands-on learning tool for learning the basics of data
transformation, data definition, and the fundamentals of data mapping. The
Design Studio Tutorial also contains examples and exercises.
See the Getting Started document for more information about the Integration
Broker products.
