CPADPARMS.
CPADPARMS. Conversational mode user-settable options for configuring a Packet
Assembler/Disassembler (PAD).
C-series system. A system running a C-series version of the Guardian operating system.
A C-series system allows a maximum of 256 concurrent processes in a CPU and can
run unconverted processes only.
CSM. Communications Subsystem Manager. Process coordinating certain functions for
6100 controllers. The CSM is responsible for downloading microcode to the controllers.
CUG. Closed user group. Optional network facility restricting calls to members assigned to
a group.
CUD. Call user data. User data contained in packets that are not data packets, such as a
call request packet. This is a network user facility.
data packet. Packet containing data.
DCE. Data communications equipment. Equipment providing the functions required for
connection between data terminal equipment (DTE) and telephone company lines or
data circuits. A DCE is usually a modem. X25AM allows a line to function as a DTE or
a DCE.
dedicated controller. Non-programmable controller providing single protocol support.
destination address. See called address.
device. Physical or logical system component. For X25AM, a line is a device defined in the
CONFTEXT file.
DISC. Disconnect. Link-level frame, used for call disconnection.
DNIC. Data Network Identification Code. The DNIC is part of a CCITT numbering scheme
providing each network with a unique address. The DNIC contains three digit data
country code (DCC) and a one-digit network identification (NI) code.
D-series system. A system running a D-series version of the Guardian operating system.
A D-series system can have more than 256 concurrent processes in a CPU and can
run both unconverted and converted processes.
DSR. Data set ready. Signal coming from a modem which usually indicates to the computer
equipment that the modem is powered on.
DTE. Data terminal equipment. Equipment connected by data communications equipment
(DCE) to telephone company lines or data circuits. A DTE is usually a terminal or a
computer. For X.25, the NonStop system can function as a DTE or a DCE.
EBCDIC. Extended binary-coded decimal interchange code. Standard method of coding
data consisting of eight bits of data with no parity bit for each character.
