1 Overview
The HP Serviceguard Toolkit for EDB Postgres Plus Advanced Server (PPAS) integrates and manages
EDB PPAS (EDB PPAS toolkit) in the Serviceguard for Linux environment.
The EDB PPAS toolkit allows you to start, stop, and monitor the PPAS database. The EDB PPAS
toolkit has a set of shell scripts, which works with the Serviceguard master control script in the
modular packages. Each PPAS database is configured in its own Serviceguard package.
NOTE: To use the EDB PPAS toolkit, you must be familiar with the installation and configuration
of HP Serviceguard for Linux, and the EDB PPAS.
Advantages
When EDB PPAS is deployed in a Serviceguard for Linux cluster using the EDB PPAS toolkit, it has
the following advantages:
Easy integration of EDB PPAS database instance in a highly available Serviceguard cluster
on Linux.
Provides high availability for the EDB PPAS database instance.
Provides option to validate certain toolkit attribute values as mentioned in the package
configuration file.
Prerequisites
The following are the prerequisites for using the EDB PPAS toolkit:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Server or Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)
Serviceguard for Linux
EDB PPAS

Supported configuration
This configuration provides an automatic failover of the EDB PPAS toolkit package to the adaptive
node.
