HP Serviceguard Toolkit for Enterprise DB PPAS for Linux User Guide Version A.12.00.00

Features
This section discusses the new features available in the HP Serviceguard Toolkit for EnterpriseDB
PPAS for Linux.
Managing the EDB PPAS database instance
The Serviceguard toolkit for EDB PPAS integrates and runs EDB PPAS in the Serviceguard for Linux
environment. It allows you to start, stop, and monitor the PPAS database.
Cluster verification feature for the EDB PPAS toolkit
Cluster verification is a proactive mechanism to identify cluster inconsistencies that adversely affect
toolkit package failover to an adaptive node.
You can use either the cmcheckconf v or cmcheckconf P commands to initiate the cluster
verification.
Run the cmcheckconf v command to perform cluster wide verification of resources. This
command also verifies the packages that are presently deployed in the system. Run the
cmcheckconf -v 2 command to display the ERROR, WARNING, or INFO messages during
the package verification.
Run the cmcheckconf P command to perform the package verification irrespective of the state
of the package in the cluster.
Use the cluster verification feature for the EDB PPAS toolkit to:
Verify whether or not the required EDB PPAS administrator user as mentioned in the EDB PPAS
toolkit package configuration exists on all the package nodes.
If the verification fails for the respective commands, the console displays the following error
message:
Message:ERROR: PPAS administrator user <<user>>>is not present on
node <<node1>>
Reason: It indicates that the required EDB PPAS administrator user is not created on the specific
node.
Solution: Create the EDB PPAS administrator user as mentioned in the EDB PPAS toolkit
configuration, on all the specific nodes.
You must ensure that user id (uid) and group id (gid) of EDB PPAS user is consistent on all the
package nodes.
Verify whether or not the required EDB PPAS binaries required to start the EDB PPAS database
is installed on all the package nodes.
If the verification fails for the respective commands, the console displays the following error
message:
Message: INFO: Could not find the required PPAS binary pg_ctl on node
<<node>>
Reason: It indicates that the required EDB PPAS binary is not available on the <<node>>.
Solution: Install the EDB PPAS software on node <<node>>.
Verify whether or not the EDB PPAS software installed on all the package nodes is supported
by this toolkit.
Message: INFO: PPAS toolkit do not support PPAS version <<version>>
on <<node1>>
Reason: It indicates that the installed EDB PPAS software is not supported by the EDB PPAS
toolkit. The EDB PPAS toolkit does not support EDB PPAS version earlier than 9.0.
Solution: Install the EDB PPAS version 9.0.x, 9.1.x, or 9.2 on the package nodes.
