10 Creating a virtual machine logical server
The following steps will verify that the logical server features are working correctly for the hypervisor
hosts you licensed in the previous section. This chapter is optional. You may skip this chapter and
proceed to “Configuring Matrix infrastructure orchestration” (page 83).
Follow these steps to create a single VM logical server.
1. In HP SIM, select Tools→Matrix OE visualization… to view the Visualization tab.
2. Make sure that Matrix OE visualization is synchronized with recent virtual machine operations
by selecting the visualization menu item Tools→Logical Servers→Refresh…. Select the Insight
Control virtual machine management (VMM) checkbox and click Refresh.
3. Wait for the refresh operation to complete.
4. Confirm that you can see your enclosure and Virtual Connect Domain, including the virtual
machine hosts.
NOTE: If your environment does not have a VC Domain you will not see a Virtual Connect
Domain or Enclosure.
