HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

Cloud
resources
Cloud resources represent an external resource or capacity offered by a cloud
service provider. Cloud resources are manually configured resources, not
discovered resources, and require special configuration for use within infrastructure
orchestration. A cloud resource must be added to a pool in order to be used in
a provisioning request. A pool containing a cloud resource must not contain any
other type of compute resource. A provisioning request may specify the use of
multiple pools, as long as any one pool containing a cloud resource is
homogeneous. For more information, see Cloud bursting with HP CloudSystem
Matrix infrastructure orchestration and Savvis and Cloud bursting with HP
CloudSystem Matrix infrastructure orchestration and HP Cloud Services or Amazon
EC2.
When starting up Matrix infrastructure orchestration for the first time, two pools are automatically
generated. The Unassigned pool contains all resources previously discovered by Matrix OE, and
the Maintenance pool contains resources that have failed. These pools are available only to users
assigned to the HPIO_Administrators group, and cannot be used for infrastructure service creation.
Matrix infrastructure orchestration automatically populates the Unassigned pool with the resources
identified by HP SIM. IO updates the information each hour. After you update the available
resources, click Refresh to see your updates immediately.
IMPORTANT: In a multi-tenancy environment, the resources defined in a server pool using an IO
administrator account are only available at the Service Provider level and will not be available to
tenant organizations. If you plan to define tenant organizations, leave the resources intended for
those organizations in the Unassigned pool.
