Managed node checks
When you invoke the vseassist tool by selecting the Check Managed Node Configuration… menu
item or entering vseassist –r on the command line, vseassist performs the following checks of
managed node configurations:
• Windows managed nodes
◦ CMS host name resolution
◦ WMI running
◦ WMI responsive
◦ System type matches HP SIM system type
◦ Compare CMS and managed system nslookup
◦ SSH configuration validation
◦ File system free space
◦ Windows 2003 SP2 Installed
◦ Compare CMS and managed node time
◦ Utilization Provider validation
• Linux managed nodes
◦ CMS host name resolution
◦ HP Web-Based Enterprise Management running
◦ WBEM responsive
◦ System type matches HP SIM system type
◦ Compare CMS and managed system nslookup
◦ SSH configuration validation
◦ File system free space
◦ Check VMware ESX Version
◦ Compare CMS and managed node time

When you invoke the vseassist tool by selecting the Check CMS to Managed Node Communication…
menu item or typing vseassist –l on the command line, vseassist performs the following checks
of communication between the CMS and managed nodes:
• Managed system host name resolution
• WBEM port open
• WBEM authentication
• SSH port open
• SSH authentication
• SNMP port open
