HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 Update 1 Installation and Configuration Guide for Provisioning with Virtual Resources

1. Launch the HP SMH on the CMS, and confirm that the data source is set to SNMP. If the data
source is set to WBEM, change it to SNMP before you proceed. (SettingsSelect SMH Data
SourceSet SNMP)
NOTE: If the message “Could not set the disk threshold, the agent did not accept the request."
displays, you must confirm that the data source is set to “SNMP” (not WBEM) on the HP SMH
for the system. If SNMP is not available as a selection, you must configure the SNMP agent
on the system. Use ConfigureConfigure or Repair Agents , and select Install SNMP Agent
(HP Insight Management Agents for Windows.
2. Determine the threshold values, as a percentage of total utilization, at which you would like
to receive and to rearm the alerts.
3. In HP SIM's All Systems collection, select the CMS (and/or database server).
4. Go to ConfigureDisk ThresholdsSet Disk Thresholds....
5. Set the threshold values determined previously.
6. Set a polling interval (note, the polling is local to the target node; polling does not generate
traffic between the CMS and target node; the default 120 seconds is probably acceptable).
7. Click Run Now.
NOTE: There is no need to schedule this task to run periodically.
This procedure sets all the thresholds for all disks on the target system equally. If the target system
has multiple disks, you might want to fine tune the threshold for each disk.
NOTE: The following procedure requires a Java Runtime Environment and browser plugin to be
present on the CMS.
To fine tune the threshold for each disk:
1. In HP SIM All Systems collection, find the CMS (or database server) and click the link to visit
the System Page.
2. On the System Page, click System Management Homepage.
3. Select TasksOperating SystemFile Space Used or TasksSystemServer
ConfigurationThreshold Information.
4. Set the threshold for each disk by moving the appropriate sliders or entering numeric values.
5. Click Save.
You can also use the above steps to verify that the thresholds have been set.
