Re-run an HP SIM discovery task for the VM host followed by a refresh.
Virtual machine logical server is reflected as “Active on unknown host” while performing a move
operation
Issue
The virtual machine logical server is reflected as “Active on unknown host” after a recovery is
completed on the target VM host that crashed during a virtual machine logical server move operation
to the host.
Possible causes
The HP SIM and Insight Control virtual machine management databases may not contain the latest
information on the virtual machine guest associated with the logical server on a virtual machine
host post recovery.
Suggested actions
Initiate a re-discovery of the recovered virtual machine host followed by a Matrix OE logical server
management refresh operation of HP SIM and Insight Control virtual machine management.
Virtual machine logical server is incorrectly activated after a CMS crash recovery
Issue
The virtual machine logical server is incorrectly activated after the CMS is recovered from a crash
during a virtual machine logical server delete operation. The virtual machine logical server was
in a deactivated state before the crash.
Possible causes
If the CMS crash occurred while the Insight Control virtual machine management was in the process
of deleting and un-registering the virtual machine, the previously activated and registered state of
the virtual machine is maintained, and the virtual machine logical server is activated after recovery.
In the process of deleting the virtual machine logical server, the Insight Control virtual machine
management registers the virtual machine (associated with the logical server) with a VM host where
the VM was registered before deactivated. When a CMS crash occurs during registration
verification, the Matrix OE logical server management activates the Virtual machine logical server
after recovery since the VM is registered with a VM host.
Suggested actions
• Re-Initiate the Virtual Machine Logical Server delete operation after recovery is completed.
• Choose a logical server that is already de-activated.
• Select Delete→Delete Logical Server.
VM host does not appear on move logical server target screen
Issue
A VM host does not appear on the Move: Assign Logical Servers to Target Hosts screen in the
Available Target Hosts and Rejected Target Hosts tables, or a virtual machine fails to be imported
with a "cannot find VM" or "cannot find VM Host" message.
