Opening a remote file
A file is considered remote when it is stored on a networked computer other than the computer you are using.
After a host opens a shared file in FileMaker
Pro, up to nine users can open the remote file as clients.
To open a remote file:
1. Choose File menu > Open Remote.
2. For View, select Local Hosts to see a list of hosts.
Note If your computer is not on a network or if there are no FileMaker Pro files currently being hosted, no
files are listed in the Open Remote File dialog box.
3. Select a host, then the file you want to open.
4. Click Open.
Depending on how file sharing is set up on the host computer, you might have to enter an account name,
password, and domain name (Windows only) to open the remote file.
